Facial Balance

This is a 45-year-old patient presenting with abnormal facial bone growth. At first glance, the jaw appears larger; however, after analyzing the facial skeletal measurements, we determined that the maxillary bone (which holds the upper teeth) did not grow properly in the anteroposterior direction. This underdevelopment gives the appearance of a prognathic jaw. A maxillary advancement procedure was performed to achieve facial balance and proper bite alignment.

Double Jaw Surgery

In this case, we observed underdevelopment of the maxilla and overdevelopment of the mandible. Therefore, we performed a maxillary advancement and mandibular setback to achieve proper facial balance. This type of procedure is known as double jaw surgery and is a key component of orthognathic surgery.

Mandibular Prognathism

This patient was diagnosed with mandibular prognathism, which means the lower jaw has grown excessively in the anteroposterior direction. Orthognathic surgery was performed to reposition the mandible backward.

Maxillary Hypoplasia

When the maxillary bone does not grow sufficiently in the anteroposterior direction, the face appears flat with depressed areas around the nose, affecting overall facial harmony. In this patient, we performed a maxillary advancement, which completely changed the facial structure and resulted in a beautiful and balanced appearance.

Mandibular Reconstruction

This patient underwent a hemimandibulectomy due to a mandibular osteosarcoma, without immediate reconstruction. We later performed a microvascularized fibula bone graft (using bone from the leg along with its artery and vein) to connect to the facial blood vessels. Afterward, dental implants were placed into the grafted bone and a full implant-supported prosthesis was installed.

Veneers

Bruxism is a parafunctional habit that causes unconscious grinding of the teeth. This can lead to severe wear, sometimes completely removing the enamel or even the entire tooth. Restoring such cases requires full reconstruction by restoring the height of all the teeth using highly durable crowns, such as those made of zirconia.
